While nearly everyone is concerned with the cost of mobile data, it’s of particular interest for users of hotspots and internet on the go. If you are a heavy data user and traveler, the cost of data per GB is a substantial consideration and factor.

Recently UK based Cable.co published a number of handy graphics and webpages calculating the average cost of a GB of data in many countries throughout the world. While Go Connect’s product is currently expected to only be for sale in the US, with other countries following behind, the information is still highly useful when considering products that offer worldwide capabilities.

For the United States and Canada the pricing has been relatively stable. While their research notes that a GB could be as cheap as $2.20 in the US and $1.78 in Canada, most people who have data plans likely pay near the national averages of $8.00 and $12.55 respectively. These amounts are all in USD so the actual price in Canadian dollars will vary slightly with the exchange rate.

Also interesting is the research notes the top 5 most expensive countries for mobile data are: Malawi, Benin, Chad, Yemen and Botswana. 4 of the 5 were in Africa. The 5 cheapest countries are: India, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Italy and Ukraine.
